When I was teaching in the elementary classroom, I saw so many fun ideas for leprechaun crafts and fun leprechaun tricks. However, I never saw anything done around actually building a leprechaun. So, I created this leprechaun popsicle stick craft just for kids who want to express their creativity by designing their very own leprechaun.
This leprechaun popsicle stick craft doesn’t require too many supplies. Plus, if you’ve done one of my other popsicle stick crafts then your kids will be ready to get going on their craft because they’re on their way to being popsicle stick craft experts by now.
Supplies Needed:
- Regular size popsicle sticks
- Small popsicle sticks
- Paint & Paint Brushes
- Black Marker
- Craft Eyes
- Pipe Cleaners
- Hot Glue
- Other Assorted Craft Decoration, If Desired
Leprechaun Directions:
Evenly line up 7 regular size popsicle sticks.
Using a hot glue gun, run a line of hot glue the entire length of a small popsicle stick & press it horizontally onto one end of the 7 sticks.
Repeat this step on the other end as well.
Flip the newly made board over and run an angled line of hot glue near the top of the board and apply a regular size stick at an angle to form the brim of the hat.
Paint the face section (lower ⅔) of the Leprechaun with a solid coat of paint, let dry
Paint the hat section (upper ⅓) with a solid coat of paint, let dry
Use hot glue to attach the eyes just below the brim of the hat
With the black marker, draw on the nose & mouth.
Use a paint brush to lightly tap on hair and beard, and let dry.
To decorate the hat brim, glue on the pipe cleaner in any design/pattern you like or use other craft decorations of your choice.
Your Leprechaun is now complete!
